Spring/Summer Planting Tour
Now booking Spring Tours for April 18 - June 30, 2017!
In the spring, Trunnell's Farm tours digs into the exciting world of farming! As soon as the children get off the bus they will begin an agri-cation experience at Trunnell's without even realizing that their visit to the farm is a "lesson." From planting seeds and learning about bees to our comprehensive lesson plans, we will educate and entertain your class.
What's Included in the Spring/Summer Planting Tour
Create a Grass HeadStudents will learn and investigate germination of seeds and plant needs in an interactive planting lesson where they will create a Grass Head to take home and watch grow.
Bee SmartStudents will learn the importance of bees and pollination while playing a game in which they simulate pollination.
Story TimeStudents will hear the story "Tops and Bottoms" learning the different parts of plants, that different plants are edible and non-edible, and how these plants grow.
Tour the Market FacilitiesA guided educational walking tour to experience "hands-on" how a farm market operates. Each student will get to sample a Slushie. Students, parents, and chaperones will have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir from the market.
Playtime in the Fun-AcreThe Fun-Acre is a block of land next to the market full of educational and entertaining activities. The students can burn off extra energy playing in the Tile Maze, Rope Maze, Super Corn Slider, Pedal Cart Track, Pedal Trike Track, Hay Pyramid Jump, and Straw Maze. An "Absolutely Fresh" Experience. Some activities are only open seasonally. Please check for availability.
Picnic AreasPicnic areas are available for your use. School groups are allowed to bring lunches with them. Lunches are also available for purchase. (See Additional Options section.)
Spring/Summer Planting Tour FeesSpring Tour Cost: $7.00/person
Children 12 months and under FREE
Teachers & Paid Staff: Free Admittance*
* One teacher per class of 15 students. All attending parents and siblings (13 months and older) must pay tour fee.
Mining Sluice Adventure
LunchesWe offer a farm-fresh lunch for that includes a ham or turkey sandwich, veggie chips, fruit, and choice of lemonade or apple cider. The farm-fresh lunch must be ordered at the at the time of tour reservation.
Farm-Fresh Lunch Cost: $4/person
Spring Planting Tour ReservationsSpring Planting Tours are available April 19th - July 1st. Tours can be scheduled starting at 9AM and typically last 1-1/2 to 2 hours.The picnic area and The Fun-Acre will be available immediately following the tour for your group to use. You will have 30-40 minutes to use these areas before you depart. Don't forget that the Market will also be open for your group to browse through.
To reserve your spot: Call (270) 733-2222 or email us to make your reservation. When emailing, please include your name, school name or organization name (if applicable), phone number, best time to call, date and time requesting.
CancellationsOut of respect for other tour groups, and to maintain booking flexibility, cancellations need to be made within two weeks of the visit. If cancellations are not made within this time frame they are severely damaging in that another class is deprived of a trip. Therefore, cancellation less than 2 weeks in advance or "no-shows" will result in a charge of $75.00.
Cancellations need to be person to person--messages left on voice mail are NOT acceptable. In case of rain, Trunnell's will make any cancellation decisions the morning of the trip. Please call that morning if you have any questions. If cancellation is due to weather, the above fee will be waived for all cancellations, and Trunnell's will be happy to assist in rescheduling your tour.
