Fall Harvest Tour

Available September 13 - November 3, 2023

This fall, Trunnell's Farm Tours will be leaping into the exciting adventure of Harvesting on the farm. From the pumpkin patch and gourds to our comprehensive learning plans, we will educate and entertain your class or group discover the life cycle of pumpkins and pollination by the honey bee as well as what goes on day to day at our real working farm. As soon as the children get off the bus they will begin a learning experience at Trunnell's without even realizing that the farm is a "lesson". What's Included in your Fall Harvest Tour

Life Cycle of the Pumpkin

Students will learn and investigate germination of a pumpkin and how our crops develop from seed to fruit, and importance of pollination.

Hop aboard the Fall Harvest Wagon Ride

Students will climb aboard a wagon ride and tour a real working farm during the harvesting season stopping at the Pumpkin Patch.

"Spookley" the Square Pumpkin

Students will learn about "Spookley" the Square Pumpkin! Spookley is a unique pumpkin that delivers a message of tolerance and kindness that is just right for October's Bullying Prevention Month!

Pumpkin Picking

Each student will get to choose and take home the perfect pumpkin right off the vine from our amazing pumpkin patch - a "true" farm harvesting experience.

Explore the Animal Barnyard

Students will get up close and personal with our barnyard animals! Come meet the rabbits, goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, and baby calf!

Trunnell's Farm Experience

The Farm Experience is a block of land next to the market with over 30 educational and entertaining activities abound. The jumping pillow, corn maze, bouncy town, grain wagon slider, ball zone, duck races, yard games, pedal carts, straw maze, corn pit, and more will leave smiles on everyone throughout their "Absolutely Fun" experience.

Tour the Market Facilities

A guided educational walking tour to experience "hands-on" how a farm market operates. Each student will get to sample a Delicious Apple Cider Slushie. Students, parents, and chaperones will have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir from the market.

Picnic Areas

Picnic areas are available for your use. School groups are allowed to bring lunches with them. Lunches are also available for purchase. (See Additional Options section.)

Fall Tour Cost: $12.00/person
Children 12 months and under FREE

Teachers & Paid Staff: Free Admittance*
* One teacher per class of 15 students All attending parents and siblings (13 mo and older) must pay tour fee.

Additional Options

Mining Sluice Adventure (Available Sept 7 - Nov 4)

Students will make their way to the Water Sluice, a wooden water tower in which water runs through a series of troughs. Students will take their bag of mining "rough" and pour it into a sluice box. Each student will sift and shake their box, and the water will wash the dirt away slowly revealing their found treasure. After each student discovers their gems or fossils, they will be given an identification card to accurately identify exactly what they found. When the exercise is complete, students will keep their found treasure and the ID card to take home.

Sunflower Harvest Tour (Available Sept 7 - Sept 30)

Dig into the exciting world of sunflowers with over 35 varieties planted of dazzling colors. As soon as the students step off the bus, they will begin an agri-cation experience at Trunnell's without even realizing that the farm is a "lesson." From learning the life cycle of the sunflower and all about honey bees to our comprehensive lesson plans, we will educate and entertain your class!

Combo Tours

Our Combo Tours educates and entertains your class for the entire day and gives the students a "true" farm experience! Combine any TWO of our fun and education tours and receive $5.00 savings per student!

Cost: $17-19.00/person

Lunches

Both our Farm Grill and Kluckery will be open to purchase lunch. All student lunches need to be pre-ordered before your tour date. Student lunch options include a Chicken Tender Meal (chicken tenders, apple sauce, and apple juice) or Cheeseburger Meal (cheeseburger, apple sauce, and apple juice)

Farm-Fresh Lunch Cost: $7.95/meal

Educational Tour Reservations

Fall Harvest Tours are available September 7th through November 5th. Tours can be scheduled starting at 9AM and typically last 1-1/2 to 2 hours. The picnic area and The Fun-Acre will be available immediately following the tour for your group to use. You will have 30-40 minutes to use these areas before you depart. Don't forget that the Market will be open for your group to browse through.

To reserve your spot: Book online (recommended), call (270) 733-2222 or email us to make your reservation. When emailing, please include your name, school name or organization name (if applicable), phone number, best time to call, date and time requesting.

Cancellations

Out of respect for other tour groups, and to maintain booking flexibility, cancellations need to be made within two weeks of the visit. If cancellations are not made within this time frame they are severely damaging in that another class is deprived of a trip. Therefore, cancellation less than 2 weeks in advance or "no-shows" will result in a charge of $75.

Cancellations need to be person to person. Messages left on voice mail are NOT acceptable. In case of rain, Trunnell's will make any cancellation decisions the morning of the trip. Please call that morning if you have any questions. If cancellation is due to weather, the above fee will be waived for all cancellations, and Trunnell's will be happy to assist in rescheduling your tour.
